U.S. debt approaches insolvency

In the early months of next year, when the official data are published, the United States will run a serious risk of insolvency. This would involve, in the first place, a valuation crisis for the dollar. After this, the United States could face a social crisis like that in Argentina in 2001.

The Yen Is on Fire, Gold and Silver Continue Their Breakout

The scary proposition for us as Americans is if their campaign will transfer the worry from a financial crisis to a currency crisis. My stomach was rolling yesterday to see the giddy economists on CNBC last night saying the Federal Reserve can buy every asset in the United States if they want – their balance sheet is "infinite". Sure, if you want to be USSR and you want a currency similar to Zimbabwe.

Will You Go Quietly?

The Republicans have two goals; they have always been the party of big business and are always the beneficiaries of the Chambers of Commerce largesse. But they smell the blood of the labor unions and see a chance to smash their adversaries, the contributors to Democratic Party campaigns. So what if a few million Americans suffer directly and millions more suffer indirectly, because this is a class struggle; it has always been a class struggle and it is always going to be a class struggle. They see a chance for a political victory and your well-being matters naught.

This is a class struggle, it has always been a class struggle and it is always going to be a class struggle. It is not a class war but a class massacre, and the only question left is, will you go quietly?

By the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, 20 Stat. 152, 18 U.S.C. § 1385, it was provided that it shall NOT (emphasis added) be lawful to employ any part of the Army of the United States, as a posse comitatus, or otherwise, for the purpose of executing the laws, except in such cases and under such circumstances as such employment of said force may be expressly authorized by the Constitution or by act of Congress& . The effect of this prohibition, however, was largely nullified by a ruling of the Attorney General that by Revised Statutes 5298 and 5300 [10 U.S.C. §§ 332, 334] the military forces, under the direction of the President, could be used to assist a marshal. 16 Ops. Atty. Gen. 162. B. RICH, THE PRESIDENTS AND CIVIL DISORDER 196 n.21 (1941).

U.S. District Judge Louis L. Stanton ordered that clients of Bernard Madoff’s private investment business seek relief under a federal statute created to rescue cheated investors. Stanton also ordered that business be liquidated under the jurisdiction of a bankruptcy court and named attorney Irvin H. Picard as trustee to oversee that process.

Iraqis demand release of shoe-hurling journalist

Thousands of Iraqis took to the streets Monday to demand the release of a reporter who threw his shoes at President George W. Bush in anger at U.S. policies, as support for the act and the journalist flowed in from across the Arab world.

Perhaps like most travelers he’s just upset about having to take off his shoes before getting on an airplane!

The Economics of Trust

Indeed, if our leaders aren’t following the Constitution or the rule of law, and are lying about what they’re doing, why should we believe that they are enforcing the rules of a free market? Everywhere we look, we see that those with power act as if they were above the law. It is true of banks and Wall Street giants, as well as politicians.

And those who point out these facts are accused of being freaks or in need of professional help!
